David Joe Goodman,72, of Gainesville, Texas passed away on July 2, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1952, to Tolliver Joe Goodman and Joyce Laverne Goodman. David moved to Gainesville in 1969 and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1970. He met his wife, Anita, and they married May 30, 1972. David owned and operated his own business, Goodman Painting.
David is survived by his wife, Anita Jo Goodman; son, Brian J. Goodman; brother, Donald Goodman; sister, Deanna Waltham and husband, Charles of Oklahoma City, Ok; grandsons, Dustin, Tanner, Branden, Trysten; great grandchildren, Sky and Zack; nephews, Stephen, Joey, Jody, Jody Thorp and Travis Harvey.
Preceded in death by parents, Tolliver & Joyce Goodman; son, David Brent Goodman; sister, Debra Sue Newton; nephew, Justin David Harvey.

David and I ran track together in 1968 at Sulphur High School. He was a really fast guy. I picked up sprinting again a few years back and the Sulphur paper ran an article about my running and I made sure David was mentioned in the paper as my former teammate in high school. I had planned to forward the article to David and I was so sorry to hear about losing him. Rest in peace my friend. I will never forget our planned photo finish tie for coach Rainer that got us in trouble. You will always be in my memory until one day when I am called home as well.
