Ruth “Carol” Vestal Fair Campbell was born April 8, 1934 to Frank and Ethel (Pearce) Vestal on the family farm near Conway, Missouri and died on February 17, 2026. Carol married Tommy Wayne Fair April 22, 1950. They had 4 sons, Ted, Randy, Dan, and Kevin. Tom’s job took the family to many locations across the country. During this time, Carol worked for several businesses and government agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration and Soil Conservation Service. After retirement, Carol took up quilting and created beautiful quilts she shared with her family. Carol was also an avid reader and wonderful cook who enjoyed music, bowling, playing cards, and entertaining. Tom and Carol were married 48 years until Tom’s death in 1998. Carol moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2000 and in 2004, she married Jim Campbell. They were married 11 years until his death in 2015. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Tom Fair and Jim Campbell, son Dan Fair, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Arlene Vestal, Jim and Wanda Vestal, and Jack and Ruth Vestal. Carol is survived by sons Ted Fair (Maggie) of Fort Worth, Texas, Randy Fair (Robin) of New Braunfels, Texas, Kevin Fair (Lynne) of Marshfield, Missouri, daughter in law Theresa Fair of Fort Worth, Texas, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in honor of Carol to the Webster County Food Pantry at 51 Ferguson Dr. Marshfield, MO 65706 or by calling 417-859-3525. Graveside services honoring Carol will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. officiated by Rev. Don Russell. Informal visitation for Carol will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
