Mary Johana Rushing, 87, of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away peacefully. She was born on June 21, 1938, in Athens, Texas, to Claudia Benson and Edward Seymour, and was lovingly raised by Sammy and Tommy Cretsinger.

Mary graduated from high school in Athens, Texas, and dedicated more than 30 years of service to Texas Instruments. A devoted Christian, she was known for her gentle spirit and her deep love for caring for her family. In her quieter moments, Mary enjoyed collecting little bells, a hobby that reflected her appreciation for simple beauty and meaningful keepsakes.

Mary will be remembered for her faith, her kindness, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

She is survived by her sons, Raymond Smith of Whitesboro; and Joel Anthony Rushing of Arizona; grandson, Bo Hunter Smith, granddaughter, Raelyn Nicole Smith, great-granddaughter, Zaida Love Luper and sister, Tammy Lipscomb and husband, Richard. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Deborah Elaine Snow. A funeral service honoring Mary will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Kelly Gray. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery in Whitesboro. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
