Born in: Gainesville, Texas
Resided in: Whitesboro , Texas

Donna Mathis, 66, of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Donna was married to the love of her life, Timmy Mathis, for 44 years. Together they raised their son, Josh, and Donna poured herself into being a mother in every sense of the word — not just to her own, but to the whole crew of kids who came through her door. She was the kind of mom who showed up. She chased Josh from one end of a Texas Friday night to the other: marching band and orchestra competitions, football games, track meets. And she took Josh’s friends in as her own, becoming a second mother to more kids than she could count.

She spent 22 years at Kaiser Aluminum as a sales representative, where her warmth and steadiness made her good at the work and easy to love. The job carried her across several states and even up into Canada, and she met every mile of it with the same grace.

When she wasn’t working or cheering from the stands, Donna loved to read and to travel. In her younger years, Colorado held her heart — Colorado Springs and Breckenridge most of all. She never tired of the scenery at Garden of the Gods, where the red rock spires against the mountains gave her a kind of peace that stayed with her all her life.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Don Lee Price and Brenda Kay Price (Evans); her grandparents, Essie Mae Evans, Silas Evans, Sherman Price, and Jewel Anne Price; and her aunts and uncles, Joe Evans, Larry Price, Lyndell Price, Billy Price, Kay Rigsbay, and Mary McWain.

She is survived by her husband, Timmy Mathis; her son, Josh Mathis, and his wife, Kristin; her four grandchildren, who were her great joy — Danica (22), Zoe (19), Brett (18), and Jack (9); and her two great-grandchildren, Colt and Brooks. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Jolliff and husband Greg; her uncles, Joe Price and wife Glenda, and Jimmy “Bubba” Evans and wife Linda; and her nephews, Kyle Jolliff and wife Meredith and their children MacKenzie, Ty, and Truett, and Evan Jolliff and wife Torie and their son Josiah.

She leaves behind a family who adored her and a community of “extra kids” who will always remember the woman who looked after them like her own. Rest easy, Donna.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home (formerly Meadors) in Whitesboro. A graveside service will follow Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.
