Barbara English

Barbara English, 85, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away on July 18, 2026, at Pecan Tree Rehab and Healthcare Center in Gainesville.

Barbara, affectionately known as Barb, was born on January 26, 1941, in Denver, Colorado, to Howard and Margaret Spencer. She married John William English on May 14, 1965.

Barb lived a life filled with family and friends. After moving with her family to Gainesville in 1980; she integrated herself into the community. Around town, she could be seen at her grandkids’ sports games- a Sonic happy hour stop or enjoying the parade. Whether working at the Boys and Girls Club, the florist, or teaching computer lessons; Barb was friendly to all. She enjoyed crafting, socializing with friends, caring for a lifetime of cats, visits to and from family; or a trip or two to the casino. Barbaras’ family and friends will remember her for all of the crafty personal keepsakes she made for them throughout the years.

She is survived by her three sons, Boyd Lane Ellison of Haslet, Texas; Brian Lee Ellison of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Brett Leon English of Roanoke, Texas; Barbara had the pleasure in knowing and loving her seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Spencer; her husband, John William English; and her daughter, Bonnie Lynn Ellison.

Visitation will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Gainesville, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter in Gainesville.
