Rogers Woolsey, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Born on August 19, 1935, in Sadler, Texas, Rogers was the son of Floyd Marcus Woolsey and Jessie Rebecca (Welch) Woolsey. Rogers graduated from Collinsville High School in 1954 and continued his education at the University of North Texas, which he attended for two years.

Rogers built a successful career as a buyer for Bell Helicopter, where he faithfully served for more than 20 years before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

A man of unwavering faith, Rogers was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in both Whitesboro and Gainesville. He found great joy in organizing church trips, fellowships, and special events that brought people together. He had a servant’s heart and was always happiest when helping others create lasting memories.

Outside of church, Rogers had a passion for remodeling homes with his wife Cherry and took personal pride in every project he tackled. He never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a scoop of ice cream or gather with friends over coffee and donuts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Cherry Woolsey of Gainesville; sons, Derek Woolsey of Fort Worth and Barry Woolsey of Gainesville; granddaughter, Callie McDonald and husband, Michael, of Sherman; treasured great-grandson, Briggs McDonald of Sherman; nieces, Cheryl Chrisler of Frisco, Carla Haggard of Colorado, and Shauna Harendt of Collinsville; nephews, Mark Woolsey, Mat Woolsey, and Kendall Clark, along with numerous extended family members and many dear friends.

Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jessie Woolsey; his son, Damon Woolsey; brother, Wayne Woolsey; sister, Florence Woolsey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evorie and Bill Graham; and his in-laws, Glen and Ruby Graham.

Funeral services honoring Rogers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Mike Flanagan. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rogers will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and faithful friend.  He leaves a legacy of leadership that reflected his faith which will continue to inspire those who knew him.
