Resided in: Denison, Texas

Sharon Kay Weston, 80, of Denison, Texas, passed away on July 29, 2026.

Kay was born on October 15, 1945, in Palestine, Texas, to Lester Lloyd McDaniel and Eura Opal (Wren) McDaniel. She graduated from W. W. Samuell High School in Dallas in 1963. On October 15, 1964—her 19th birthday—she married Jim Weston in Dallas, Texas.

Faith was an important part of Kay’s life. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for more than 50 years and served her Gainesville ward in several capacities, including as ward librarian and genealogy specialist. Her interest in genealogy reflected her appreciation for family and the generations that came before her.

Kay was creative and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed sewing and became especially known in the family for some wonderfully inventive crafts, including little Christmas trees made from wire hangers and tinsel and Santa Clauses made from bleach bottles. These handmade creations became part of the many small and memorable things that made Kay uniquely herself.

She was also an excellent cook, and food was one of the ways she brought her family together. Her hamburger soup, enchiladas, and egg rolls became family favorites and are among the dishes her loved ones will always associate with her. More than anything, Kay loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was at the center of her life, and the meals, handmade treasures, stories, and memories she leaves behind will continue to be cherished.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Sharon Denice Ellis and husband Darren of Mena, Arkansas, and Shelly Dawn Chapman and husband Randy of Gainesville, Texas; sons, Robert Scott Weston and Samuel Dwayne Weston, both of Denison, Texas; sister, DeeDee Ann Martin; stepsons, James Vernon Weston and wife Lisa of Oklahoma, and Steven Dale Weston and wife Leiann of Canton, Texas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tabi and Daniel Holt, Kayla and Steven LaSalle, Chris Pelton Jr., Sadie and Jake Cox, Harley and Kyra Smith, Hunter Weston, Drake Weston, and Nathan Weston; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Zane, Ayden, Taryn, Emmi, Emily, Triston, Ryan, Weston, Casey, Brody, Berkley, Palmer, Theo, and Navy; and her beloved grand-fur-babies, Lady and Lily.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Lester McDaniel and Opal McKinney; her stepfather, Melvin McKinney; her husband, Jim Weston; her brothers, Robert McDaniel and Aubry McKinney; and her sister, Sandra Turner.
