Yvonne Richardson

Yvonne Richardson, 84 passed away on August 6, 2026.  She was born on November 8, 1941 in Gainesville, Texas to Johnnye and Minnie Mae Williams. Yvonne married Norman Richardson on July 30, 1960, he passed away on December 22, 2001. She worked in banking for many years until retirement.  Yvonne enjoyed her co-workers, was a kind person, a very stylish lady and had an amazing sense of humor.  She spent her free time watching Judge Judy, her favorite and also was an amazing cook.

Yvonne Richardson leaves to cherish her loving memory her oldest son, Norman Richardson Jr., and his wife, Shirl Richardson, her daughter Syretta Clark and her husband Thomas; her only daughter, Yvette Richardson Ellis; and her grandchildren, Tarisha Farmer, Keith Pollard and his wife, Angel Pollard, and Swaizi Vaughan.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Dominick, Taiona, Shayla, Kheylan, Koby and his wife, Alexis, Kaden, Ace, Seleah, Tylan; and her great-great-grandchildren, Adakis and Ari.

Yvonne was also blessed with a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, cherished friends, and friends who became family. Among those especially dear to her were Dwight Proby, L.T. Sandles, Norman Lawrence, Marla Richardson, Phyliss Green, and their spouses, along with many others who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 41 years, Norman Richardson Sr., as well as her beloved siblings, J.C. Williams, Turk Williams, Rosie Johnson, Myrtle Childress, Mary Miller, and Flossie Manuel.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:00am at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, TX 76240.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home.  Interment will be following the service at New Resthaven Cemetery, Gainesville, TX

Yvonne Richardson lived a life defined by love, devotion, strength, faith, and a deep willingness to care for others. To know Yvonne was to know someone who loved deeply, gave freely, and believed that family was something to be cherished, protected, fed, celebrated, and cared for.

To many, she was simply known as “Bon Bon.” The name began with her grandchildren and soon spread to their friends, classmates, and nearly anyone who came to know and love her. Over the years, “Bon Bon” became more than a nickname. It became a name of affection that reflected the warmth and special place she held in so many lives.

For 41 years, Yvonne was married to the love of her life, Norman Richardson Sr. From the very beginning, they were nearly inseparable. Their love story began when Norman would walk Yvonne to school each day and grew into a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, dancing, family, and countless memories. Together, they opened their home for many Thanksgivings, Christmases, and family celebrations, creating traditions their family will always remember.

Their vows were lived out through both joyful and difficult seasons. When Norman faced serious health challenges, including a heart transplant, Yvonne stood faithfully by his side and cared for him with devotion and strength.

Caring for others came naturally to Yvonne. She lovingly cared for her mother, who lived to the age of 98, and throughout her life she was often the person family and friends could depend on. She did not simply speak about loving people. She showed it through her actions.

Yvonne was the youngest of seven children and eventually became the last surviving sibling of her generation. Through years of loss and change, she remained a source of strength and love for her family.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Yvonne was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an usher and treasurer. Her service to God reflected the generosity, responsibility, and care she showed throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington, Yvonne later returned to volunteer there, giving back to a place that had been an important part of her own story.

Yvonne was the proud mother of two children, and motherhood was one of the greatest joys of her life. Her firstborn, Norman Richardson Jr., affectionately known as JR, was deeply loved and forever held a special place in her heart as the child who first made her a mother. Her only daughter, Yvette, was cherished beyond measure and lovingly known as her “Lovey” or her “Baby Girl.” The bond they shared was especially close, filled with love, companionship, and a connection uniquely their own. Both of her children held precious and irreplaceable places in her heart.

Her love extended deeply to her three grandchildren: her oldest granddaughter, Tarisha, her grandson Keith, and her granddaughter Swaizi, whom she affectionately called her “Angel.” Her family continued to grow through great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends who became family.

Yvonne spent more than 25 years working in banking and had a natural gift for numbers and mathematics. She was intelligent, witty, quick-thinking, and at times delightfully sarcastic.

She took great pride in her home, which was always beautifully kept, and she was an amazing cook. She taught anyone willing to listen, passing down recipes, techniques, and traditions that will continue for generations.

Yvonne was also a very stylish dresser who took pride in looking her best and carried herself with confidence and grace.

Anyone who spent time in her home also knew about her unforgettable love for Coca-Cola. She had an entire Coca-Cola room filled with bottles and cans from different countries, collectibles, memorabilia, and treasured Coca-Cola items that became uniquely hers.

More than anything she owned, cooked, accomplished, or collected, Yvonne’s greatest legacy is the way she loved people. She gave her time, her home, her food, her knowledge, her faith, her strength, and her heart.

Her presence will remain in every recipe she taught, every tradition she started, every story that makes the family laugh, every holiday gathering, and every person who learned from her what it means to truly care for the people you love.

And while she will be missed beyond measure, there is comfort in knowing that Yvonne is finally reunited with Norman, the love of her life. The two who were inseparable from the beginning are together once again, and we can imagine them dancing once more to their favorite song, “I Only Have Eyes for You.”

Yvonne’s life was full. Her faith was steady. Her love was abundant. And Bon Bon will forever be remembered with love by the generations of family, friends, and community she poured so much of herself into.
