Robert Edgar Reed, 92, of Collinsville, Texas, was called to his eternal home on Sunday, September 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bob was born on November 25, 1933, in Gunter, Texas, to Edgar and Leda (Stroud) Reed. He attended school in Gunter and was a devoted member of the Collinsville Church of Christ for over 43 years. On June 27, 1953, he married the love of his life, Iva Nell Green, beginning a beautiful life together filled with love and family.
Bob worked as a welder for over 40 years while also enjoying his time as a part-time farmer. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, including deer hunting, fishing, and visiting the mountains. Some of his fondest memories were made playing board games with his grandchildren, and he never missed an event they participated in. His love for his family was evident in the time and attention he gave them, always showing up to cheer them on and share in their lives.
Bob also had a deep love for music. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and faithfully led the singing at his church. His music, devotion, and warm presence touched the lives of those around him and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Iva Nell Reed; his parents, Edgar and Leda Reed; and his brothers, Johnny Reed, Tommy Reed, Curt Reed, and Carter Reed.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his daughter, Darla Joseph and husband, Dr. Ralph Joseph of Plano; his son, Robert Edgar Reed II of Granbury; grandson, Garrett Layton Patterson and wife, Kim of Collinsville; grandson, William Blaine Patterson of Collinsville; granddaughter, Alysha Morris and husband, Jonathan of Granbury; grandson, Robert Edgar Reed III of Granbury; and grandson, Johnathan Reed of Granbury; as well as ten great-grandchildren.
Bob’s love for his family, his devotion to his faith, and the memories he created throughout his life will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, music, and family will continue to live on through the generations.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Patterson, William Reed Patterson, Paul Reed, Jonathan Morris, Rider Gage Patterson, and Lanny Reed.
