Christopher DeWayne Knight

Christopher DeWayne Knight, of Sadler, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife of 20 years, Melissa Emily Ward Knight, and his family and friends.

Chris was born on April 4, 1978, in DeQueen, Arkansas. He graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Texas, in 1997.  He attended Grayson College.  He started his career at Johnson & Johnson and went on to be a chef, a driver for the disabled community, and a manager for the school food service programs in the Gainesville and Whitesboro school districts.  He was a proud member of United Methodist Men and served many years on the Board of Trustees at Whitesboro First United Methodist Church.  Chris loved working with the children and youth of his church.  He could also be found in the kitchen or fixing something around the church at any time.  He assisted in pioneering the Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed-building mission for children with the Whitesboro First United Methodist Church.

In his spare time, He and Missy enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors!  They especially enjoyed being together in everything they did!

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Melissa Emily Ward Knight; his mother, Charlotte Knight; his sister, Sheri Knight and nephew, Ayden Garcia-Knight. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Emily Snow Winchester; sister-in-law Samantha Snow Ward and nephew Luther Ward; brother-in-law Winchester Ward and sister-in-law Carolyn Ward and their children, Connor Ward, Cole Ward and his wife, Savannah Ward, and Larkyn Ward; sister-in-law Lena Henry and brother-in-law Grant Henry and their daughters, Burkelee and Lillian Henry; brother-in-law Adam Ward and sister-in-law Araceli Ward and their children, Audrey, Jackson, Harrison, and Victoria; and his in-laws, Ken and Cyndi Ward.  He was a very loving and proud Uncle to all his nieces and nephews!

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Gary Knight, and his brother-in-law, Austin Ward.

He was also preceded in death by his loyal and devoted dog, Charlie, in the fall of 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitesboro First United Methodist Church on

Saturday, October 3rd 2026.  Visitation is at 1pm and Services at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Whitesboro First United Methodist Church, Whitesboro, Texas.
