Juana Maria Breidenstein, known lovingly to those close to her as Juanita, passed away on October 13, 2026, at her home in Whitesboro, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 65 years old.

Born on April 3, 1961, in Monterrey, Mexico, Juana learned the value of hard work early in life. As a young girl, she began picking onions in the fields, and that willingness to roll up her sleeves and do whatever needed to be done stayed with her for the rest of her days. Over the years, she worked for several clothing manufacturers, sewing garments and hats, and she even spent time working at the beer stand for the Denver Broncos, a job she enjoyed as much for the people as for the work itself. Juana’s life took a joyful turn when she married Shawn Breidenstein. Together they built a life that carried them from Colorado to Oklahoma to Texas, always moving forward, always working toward something better for their family. In Texas, she worked for the Girl Scouts before joining the American Airlines Federal Credit Union, where her dedication and sharp mind earned her a promotion to loan officer. She later transferred to American Airlines as a records keeper. Through all of it, she never slowed down, and she never stopped giving. What made Juana truly special was her gift for people. She could talk to anyone and walk away having made a friend. Strangers became confidants, and there was rarely a room she entered without leaving someone smiling. She had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and that warmth touched everyone who knew her.

Her greatest joy was her family. Juana loved watching her two boys, Jonathan and Michael, grow up, and later she opened her heart and home all over again to raise two grandsons, Dante and Marcus. She treasured her time with loved ones, whether that meant setting sail on family cruises or sharing laughs with friends on a trip to the casino. These were the moments that filled her heart. A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Juana shared that faith generously with others. She taught baptism classes for the Spanish-speaking members of her community, helping to guide them along their own spiritual journeys. Her devotion was not something she kept to herself; it was woven into how she lived, how she loved, and how she served.

She now rests in the arms of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.

Juana is survived by her husband, Shawn Breidenstein; her sons, Jonathan Breidenstein and Michael Breidenstein; and her grandsons, Dante Breidenstein and Marcus Breidenstein.

Per her wishes, there will be no services held. A mass will be given in her name, with the date to be determined at a later time.

To all of Juana’s friends, the family asks only one thing: do not forget her. Do not be afraid to bring her up in your conversations, to remember the way she would make you laugh and the way she made everyone around her feel like family. Keep her close in your memories, and in doing so, keep her with you always.

  1. Juana earned a place in my heart when we met in Owaso. She looked shy and reserved. But I found out that she was full of jokes and laughs. Even though we lived miles apart in Texas She will have a piece of my heart.
