Adrian Lee Poland, 83 of Gainesville, Texas passed away on April 9, 2026. He was born on September 3, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa to Warren Poland and Bonnell Imogene (Finley) Poland.  Adrian attended Tarleton State University and was a devoted Christian looking forward to Heaven.  He married Lonna Maise on June 29, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa.  Adrian loved visiting and talking with people and always offered words of encouragement.  He spent his free time telling stories, painting lighthouses and ships, crafting leather work and shooting his gun.  Adrian was a very strong patriot and also enjoyed teaching classes while he was in the military. He was loved by his family, and he was their hero.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Lonna Poland; sons, Jay Poland and wife, Tina and Ken Poland and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Josh Poland, MiKayla Poland, Tory Kretsinger; great-grandchildren, Avery, Clayton, Kaeden and Gabriel; special service dog, Ginger.

Preceded in death by parents, Sam & BJ Sweet; granddaughter, Jamie Allan and brother, Lloyd Sweet.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, April 26 at 400 Aspen Road, Gainesville, Texas 76240.  Private burial at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery.
