Callie Marie McClendon was born October 1, 1927 to Mark and Ruby Faye Smith, at home in Grayson County. She married Carl McClendon on April 20, 1946 at the First Baptist Church parsonage. They were married for 62 years prior to his passing in 2008. Marie was a beautician for 16 years before going to work at Texas Instruments, retiring after 26 years. She is a member of Central Baptist Church (Formerly) now Legacy Pointe Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and attended as long as her health permitted her to go. Neither the pandemic nor her health kept her from worshiping with her church, she embraced live streaming and Facebook videos using her smart phone.
Carl and Marie were members of the Whitesboro Senior Citizens Club, both held offices in the club for over 29 years. She is also a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her grandson, Chad Bingham and wife, Amy of Waco, Texas, granddaughters, Heather Cox and husband, Jeremy of Sherman, Texas; Holly Oakley and husband, Michael of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Cassy Garcia and husband, Chris of Little Rock Arkansas; Crissy Ramirez and husband, Josh of San Angelo, Texas; great-grandchildren, Lyndsey and Brian Ritter of Spring, Texas, Callie Bingham and fiancée, Josh Stark of Arlington, Texas, Ashton Bingham and fiancée, Emily Rodriguez of San Angelo, Texas, Sarah Curry-Sitzes of Arkansas, and Peyton, Logan, and Mason Garcia of San Angelo, Texas. She is also survived by great-great-grandchildren, Evelynn Rene Stark, Adelynn Elizabeth Ritter, Fiona Oakley and Alainna Grace Bingham, her great-niece, Debbie Brule and husband, Kevin and their children and grandchildren she enjoyed as her extended family, great-nephew, Randy Smith and wife, Debbie and their family. Her family included her “special” daughter, Roberta Young who grew up with Kaye and Sue, her extended special family, Jana Abernathy and husband, Mark of Whitesboro, Mary Gentry of Whitesboro, as well as a large number of friends and other relatives.
Callie Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Ruby Smith, her husband of 62 years, Carl McClendon, two daughters, Kaye Hines and Rhonda Sue Woolsey, two brothers who she loved as much as she aggravated, mark Smith Jr. and Doyle Smith, and one sister, Evelynn Smith.
Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Ashton Bingham, Ryan Ferguson, Zane Ferguson, Chris Garcia and Josh Ramirez.
Visitation for Marie will be held at Legacy Pointe Baptist Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at the church beginning at 2:00 PM with Brother Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Callie Marie lived every moment of her life, she lived and loved every part of the dash between her birth and going to her heavenly home. She truly experienced each grain of sand in the hourglass of life. She will be missed.
