Born in: Sherman, Texas
Resided in: Whitesboro, Texas

Cheryl Lynn Conaway (Sherri), passed away on July 16, 2026 at the age of 65.
Sherri was born in Sherman, Texas to Don and Rhea Hancox on September 24, 1960. She was the second of four daughters in their family. She was raised in and around Sherman, spending most of her adult life there, before calling Whitesboro her home for the last few years of her life.

Sherri worked as a caregiver both personally and professionally, focusing on Alzheimer’s patients. She was forced to retire early due to health related issues of her own. In retirement she focused on her family, her children and grandchildren. She loved her sons beyond measure, her family with all she had, and for those lucky enough to call her friend, like family.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carol Ann Moore and Terri Hancox, a nephew and niece, and friend Donna Harper.

Sherri is survived by three sons: Clint Hancox and wife Tessa, Chad Imani and wife Kelly, and Paul Conaway; seven grandchildren: McKinley Hancox, Brooke Rivera and husband Luis, and Haley Hancox; Austin Imani; Bentley Major, David Major, Mackenzie Conaway; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Koe Rivera; and her sister, Amy Dona and husband Brandon, as well as nieces and nephews.

To her friends and family, Sherri was everything. A character, a guardian, strong and loving, kind but fierce, too dynamic for any single combination of letters to describe. For so many she was so much, for us she was Momma.
