Susan Baum Cox, 72, of Whitesboro passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Susan was born on January 27, 1954 1/27/1954to Charles E. Baum and Waunema R. Baum in Whitesboro, Texas. She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1972 and later earned her nursing degree from Grayson County College. Susan dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a surgical nurse for more than twenty years. Her compassion, steady hands, and caring spirit touched countless patients and colleagues throughout her career.

A woman of strong faith, Susan was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro. She was also a proud and active member of Chapter A PEO for more than fifty years, forming lifelong friendships and serving her community with grace and dedication.

Above all else, Susan cherished her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and she lovingly prepared meals that brought family together and created memories that will be treasured for generations. Susan’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for those around her will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Christi Huss and husband, Jake, of Whitesboro; her son, Mike Cox and wife, Cindy, of Orcutt, CA; sister, Kay Moczygemba and husband, John, of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Cade Strange, Noah Strange, Ruby Cox, Charlie Cox, Wacey Huss, and Brayden Huss; her great-granddaughter, Carter Strange; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Waunema Baum; her beloved son, Charlie Cox; and niece, Gina Garvin.

Graveside services honoring Susan will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitesboro on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Susan’s legacy of love, faith, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered not only for the lives she touched as a nurse, but also for the kindness she showed as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Her memory will forever be a blessing to those she leaves behind.

I loved talking nursing with her—she was so knowledgeable, and it was easy to see how much she loved what she did. She was always kind, cheerful, and a joy to be around.     • Many prayers for you and your family. I went all through school at Whitesboro with Susan. We lived right down the street from her and her family. Used to play and hang out as kids. Such a great girl. 😔🙏🙏🙏
